what are you afraid of?
“You need to take a break.” “You need to treat yourself.” This is what I tell myself after completing approximately 5 minutes of work. What do I need to take a break from when I know I have been procrastinating?
Deep Rooted
For as long as I can remember, I have had this fear of burnout. I looked at burnout as this tornado that was going to wipe me out if I came into contact with it.
Imagination
What I didn’t realize, was this idea of burnout is simple a figment of my imagination. Whenever I have felt burnt out (which hasn’t been much) in the past, it was nothing that a good night’s sleep or an intentional break couldn’t fix. Regardless of whether this break ends up lasting for 30 minutes, or a week, when you begin working, it’s as if this burnout thing never happened.
Tired
When you have a fear of burnout, it’s like being afraid of getting tired. Being human, it is normal to get tired. When you get tired, just get some rest and resume. Rest with the intent of resuming, not quitting.
