Let God Find You
In life, we all make mistakes. We stumble, we fall, and sometimes we feel so ashamed of our actions that we hide from God. But what if I told you that hiding is the worst thing you can do? God doesn’t want us to run from Him when we mess up — He wants us to run to Him.
The First Mistake and the First Hiding
The inspiration for this message came from reading Genesis 3, where Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree. Immediately, they realized they were naked and hid from God. Their shame made them feel unworthy of His presence. Doesn’t that sound familiar? How often do we avoid prayer, church, or reading the Bible because we feel like we’ve fallen short?
We tend to treat God like a human parent, afraid of punishment or disappointment. We think, “I’ve sinned, so I don’t deserve to be in His presence.” But that’s not how God works. Unlike earthly parents who may scold or discipline us, God’s response is to love, forgive, and restore. He wants us to come to Him, no matter how broken we feel.
Shame is the Devil’s Weapon
One of the most powerful realizations I’ve had is that shame doesn’t come from God — it comes from the devil. I once heard a pastor say, “Shame is a tool of the enemy.” That hit me hard. When Adam and Eve felt shame, they hid. When we feel shame, we withdraw from God, thinking we’re unworthy. But what happens when we do that? We continue to make the same mistakes, feeling stuck in a cycle of failure and hopelessness.
When we believe our sin is too big for God’s forgiveness, we allow the enemy to win. The devil doesn’t win when we lose a battle — he wins when we give up. That feeling of defeat, of thinking “There’s no point in trying anymore,” is exactly what he wants. He wants us to feel so distant from God that we stop seeking Him altogether.
My Personal Struggle with Shame
This truth became real to me in my personal battle with pornography. I had gone an entire year without watching it, but when I relapsed, I felt like all my progress was wiped away. I was ashamed. That one mistake led to another, and before I knew it, I had fallen back into the cycle I had fought so hard to escape. I felt defeated, as if I was back to square one.
But then I realized something important: even though I had fallen, I still had a choice. I could let shame keep me stuck, or I could go to God and ask for help. I chose the latter. I prayed, confessed my struggles, and trusted Him to strengthen me. And little by little, He did. My fight became easier because I wasn’t fighting alone anymore.
The Power of Running to God
When we sin, the best thing we can do is run to God — not away from Him. Instead of dwelling in shame, we should acknowledge our mistakes, seek forgiveness, and ask for His strength to do better. God doesn’t hold our failures over us. Instead, He embraces us, teaches us, and helps us grow.
Think of it this way: If you get a deep cut on your hand, ignoring it won’t make it heal. You have to clean it, treat it, and take care of it. Sin is the same way. If we ignore it and pretend it’s not there, it only festers. But if we bring it to God, He heals us.
We Are Stronger Together
One of the most powerful things about faith is community. We are not meant to walk this journey alone. When we come together, share our struggles, and uplift each other in prayer, we become stronger.
That’s why I make these videos and write these messages — not because I have everything figured out, but because I’m on this journey just like you. My goal is to get closer to God and help others do the same. If we can be honest about our struggles and support one another, we can break free from the cycles of shame and defeat.
A Call to Action
If you’re struggling with something today — whether it’s sin, shame, or feelings of unworthiness — I want you to know that God is waiting for you with open arms. He’s not angry at you. He’s not disappointed in you. He loves you, and He wants you to come to Him.
Don’t let shame keep you away from the One who can heal you. Let God find you, no matter where you are or what you’ve done.
